Hello Shipmates
Well thanks to Zooma I have a hull to work with and its in good order.
But me been-ing me I am removing a lot of nails.
Reglue-ing all the joints and lots of filling and sanding !!!
The deck was planked but a lot was in poor shape.
I tried removing the planking, but that failed.
So I removed the deck.
But day one I made a solid boat stand.

Hi Harry,

I like the modified front cabin roof that the original builder changed by making it more angled and ending higher and closer to the underside of the front cab window.

The cabin roof would be flat if it was built as per kit plan - yours is much nicer and something I have thought about doing when I get a bit further with my Sportsman restoration.

Your Sportsman is also nice and clean and dry inside, unlike mine that was powered by a glow plug motor and so it is fuel soaked inside. (currently scraped-out and drying).

I think cutting the keel off was a good idea and I am looking forward to seeing how it runs when it is finished .

Bob.

Hello Gentleman
Well we have had 3 days of 27C, one day of 22C followed by 33C.
So day just 24C, so that's the weather from Tassie !!!

Back to the Sportsman.
Pre-bent the chine rails with the heat gun( it takes a few goes, but works well.
Installed the 4 x 4mm chine rails with a few tacks and glue( tacks removed and the holes filled).
A few sprays of car filler/uncoat.
Next was the support rails for the deck and cutout a deck.
Onto the cabin with a few holes fill in and a sand down,
Removed the windows to give it a coat of spray filler/coat.

So next is making a motor mount at the right angle !!!!!
Also my order of four 37 mm 3 blade CNC props arrived today.

Hi Lads
Week three.
The new deck is on and I am into the forward cabin.
The plan was fill in the large hole in the roof, but, this ended up in replacing a lot of pieces!!
After redesigning some bits, its starting to get right.
I have made a pattern for the two windows before installing the roof.
Still more filling on the hull.
I made seven motor mounts !!
So why !!!
I had the material and three other boats will require motor mounts.
Plus I have two spares.
So you fellow enjoy your winter and I will enjoy my summer In Tasmania.
