Old Lindberg Plastic kit approx scale 1:125 (5/10)
2018 refit, Brushed motor + gearbox removed, 2 Brushless motors + 2 controllers fitted, Transmitter setup to enable tank steering.
I have taken steps to help prevent my Fletcher from sinking, the addition of foam + several full height bulkheads and re-purposed zip lock plastic bag sealed to the hull.

Checkout this link if you want to see a wild run of one of these Lindberg Fletcher's. Our small pond is only about 100 meters/yards across but the bigger nearby Lake Seminole is home to some bigger and faster full sized boats.

About this video... SSMBC member Jim built this Fletcher some years ago (also ran it at the last meet). A while back he took it out to the big lake on a cold windy day. He had everything sealed very well and got it back after running through this "Nor'easter". Enjoy!

Building mine I’m playing with motors. I’ll use brushed n two controllers I’ll servo the gun position

    Thanks for the explanation Steve.
"The spring couplings are a home made item", exceptional, very good.
That's why I've never seen them before.

    Hi Alessandro,
The spring couplings are a home made item, no particular reason for this design except ease of production.

I am quite happy using brushless motors they are slightly more efficient than brushed.
Outrunner brushless motors like the ones I have used in this model I like due to them having a good amount of torque.
Really I am happy using either brushed or brushless they both work.
    Cheers,
    Stephen.

    Hi Isaac,
I have heard horror stories of other plastic conversions "going to the bottom" to avoid this I have added some foam into the hull also I have a plastic zip lock bag siliconed into the hull to provide some degree of water resistance.

I personally like my boats to be able to take on "heavy" conditions.

    Cheers,
    Stephen.

Hi Isaac. Why? What happened? What problems have you encountered?
I ask you because in the future, if I have time, I would like to transform a (low-cost) plastic static model into a dynamic RC model.

Thanks so much for the explanation Steve, it's all clear to me now.

The choice to put a waterproofing bag is very cool.

I saw you used spring joints, I've never used them. Is there a particular reason?

I understood that the gearbox caused many problems and therefore you redid the setup but let me ask you a question: do you prefer brushless motors to brushed motors?

I hope you will be able to make some videos in the future so I can enjoy them.

My experience with plastic model boats has been like the Titanic.

    Interesting model for calm waters.
    👍
